TYPES OF LIFE TRANSITIONS

Life transitions can be expected and planned or can come out of the blue. Planned or not, transitions in life can bring up lots of deep fears and inner conflicts. Over the course of a lifetime and during different stages of life, there are many types of changes and transitions that can occur.

  • Birth – Death

  • Career – New job, dismissal, retirement

  • Disability – New condition or chronic

  • Marriage – Divorce

  • Children – Having children, blended families, fertility challenges, the “empty nest”

  • Cultural – Moving, immigrating

If you find it difficult to cope with recent life transitions, speaking to a therapist may enable to adjust to changes you cannot necessarily control. This can be a decisive step.
